Re: private URL forwarders being economical: we are talking about relationship building vs direct monetization here.

I send 200 people to someone I admire. A week or so – I send him an email. There are better chances of him now recognizing my name and not deleting an email I sent out cold.

One joint venture with him and I’ll make more than I ever would with ads.

Also – if someone sees my URL in their analytics – and decides to reciprocate back in kind – thats some more traffic to my website for free.

Thats where relationship building comes into play. I can’t tell you that on average I’ll make $2 per URL forward or something. But when it clicks, the potential is a lot better.

Saying that – I wouldn’t mind the URL forwarding to be with a 20pixel floating header bar with a short message from me – if such a plugin is available.

Are you upto something like that?

But then, That wouldn’t be economical and most of the people would just say no at the idea. But there’s a way to make money by using something like a Navigation bar containing ads… Right?

The answer is you won’t make any money directly. The purpose of a personal URL shortener is to get you on other people’s analytics logs. Its a relationship builder. How you go about managing your relationships and make them profitable decides if this is something you should do or not.
